Murals in Cesar Chavez Hall at UC Berkeley (2016)I was lucky enough to be commissioned to paint two murals in the Cesar Chavez building at UC Berkeley. Getting through the labyrinthine channels of university bureaucracy to get the 'all clear' to paint the first mural took all of seven weeks--painting the mural took seven days.
The murals are for the Disabled Students Program at UC Berkeley. It's a great office full of talented people, and they all pitched in and painted too. I would block out a space on the prepped wall, and tell them what to color in. Not everyone is an artist, but everyone knows how to color inside the lines. It was a great project we could all work on together. The second mural was completed in just three days. Both murals measure roughly four by six feet. |
